What is a floorcloth?

In the eighteenth century, early settlers produced their own floor coverings, fashioned out of sailcloth, oil paints and varnish. These durable oilcloths lasted for years and were not only practical but decorative as well.

My floorcloths are individually handpainted in much the same way; 100 percent cotton canvas is stretched and primed with exterior latex paint, the decorative painting is done with high quality acrylic paints and the finished product is given several coats of a durable, flexible, waterproof sealer on both the front and back.

Once placed on a hard surface floor with two-sided tape under the edges, the floorcloth is easy to care for. It can be cleaned with lukewarm water and a nonabrasive detergent. Acrylic floor wax may also be used if so desired.

Floorcloths can be used in any room in your home. They not only enhance a room but have a practical use as well. They provide a protective covering for hardwood floors in high traffic areas such as entranceways. In front of the kitchen sink over vinyl flooring, a floorcloth is easier to keep clean than a scatter mat. I'm sure you can find many places in your home that would benefit from a floorcloth.

A floorcloth can be custom made to coordinate with your own decorating style. Also available are stair treads, pet placemats, and faux windows.

Floorcloths are unique gifts for housewarmings, weddings, Christmas or as a gift to yourself. Please take a journey through my web site and contact me at the address below should you have any questions or if you wish to place an order.
